In 2022, Soccer Coach Travis Allen asked a transgender student, who is a biological male, to leave a locker room where the girls volleyball team—and his daughter Blake—were changing. Allen was suspended from coaching for misgendering a student, and Blake was suspended from school after speaking out about her discomfort with a biological male in the locker room. The Allen's sued on First Amendment grounds; here's why it matters.
