BREAK-IN AT LAS VEGAS EXOTIC PET STORE NETS 30 SNAKES VALUED AT $14,000

Stephanie Tracy has a range of emotions after 30 snakes and other reptiles valued at $14,000 were recently stolen from her exotic pet store in east Las Vegas. Her immediate concern wasn’t the loss of revenue for the store, Wild Things, near Sandhill and Flamingo roads. Rather, it was for the reptiles.

A thriving hydroponics gardening class has taken root at the Summerlin Library, and instructors plan to grow a second, bigger one in the fall. The class recently learned how to transplant herbs, arugula and wildflowers from the seed pods where they sprouted to new containers. Hydroponics uses a combination of LED grow lights, fertilizer and water to grow plants without soil.

SUPREME COURT RULES AGAINST NAVAJO NATION IN COLORADO RIVER WATER RIGHTS CASE

The Supreme Court ruled against the Navajo Nation on Thursday in a dispute involving water from the drought-stricken Colorado River. States that draw water from the river — Arizona, Nevada and Colorado — and water districts in California that are also involved in the case had urged the court to decide for them, which the justices did in a 5-4 ruling. Colorado had argued that siding with the Navajo Nation would undermine existing agreements and disrupt the management of the river.
