Dogecoin's price spiked after Elon Musk changed the site's bird logo to a Shiba Inu.  Steer clear of Lower Manhattan today. Streets will be closed, and protests are planned in preparation for former President Donald Trump’s arraignment on charges related to payments he made in 2016 to cover up an alleged affair. Mayor Eric Adams is warning people to "control yourselves" and says the police are prepared for any potential events. 🎧 NPR's Andrea Bernstein is outside the courthouse today. She tells the Up First podcast that reporters started lining up yesterday afternoon to get press access, which is a sign of how "unusual and unprecedented this event is." 🎧 Despite being the first former U.S. President to be indicted, Trump shows no signs of slowing down his 2024 presidential campaign. His campaign says it raised more than $7 million in the few days after the indictment. John Minchillo/AP Saudi Arabia and other major oil producers made a stunning announcement this weekend that they would be cutting oil production by 1.15 million barrels per day from May until the end of 2023. Oil prices jumped immediately after the announcement and higher prices at the gas pump are expected to follow. The decision could benefit Russian President Vladimir Putin in his country's war on Ukraine. ➡️ The price hikes will hit American pocketbooks hard, but U.S. oil companies may be able to increase their output and gain a larger market share from the Saudis. 🎧 The Biden administration promised consequences after OPEC announced similar cuts last fall. Ellen Wald, a nonresident senior fellow at the Atlantic Council, shares her insights with Steve Inskeep on Morning Edition about what this latest development reveals about the ties between Saudi Arabia and the U.S. and how the administration could realistically react this time.   More storms and tornadoes are forecast to hit the Midwest and the South as residents in Mississippi and Alabama are still trying to recover from a recent tornado. They're expected to hit some areas as early as this afternoon and continue through tomorrow morning. Residents are being warned to prepare, especially in Wisconsin and Chicago, where elections are taking place. ➡️ The rare tornado that hit Mississippi and Alabama more than a week ago had many wondering if climate change was to blame. But while research has shown how climate change intensifies rain storms, heat waves, and hurricanes, the same can't be said for tornadoes. It's especially popular with celebrities and is known as the "worst-kept secret in Hollywood." But doctors warn that its popularity has a price. 💊 The drug is harder to find now. Shanta Quilette Develle Carter-Williams began taking it after suffering a stroke at 39. She had to stop using it recently because of how hard it is to find at pharmacies that take her insurance. 💊 Misusing Ozempic for weight loss can harm those who need it most. Because of its scarcity and poor insurance coverage, the drug can cost patients as much as $1,600 a month. 💊 It's very new, and according to Dr. Jorge Rodriguez, we don't know enough about its long-term side effects to recommend it for weight loss. Angela Major/WPR Wisconsin residents vote in the state's general election today, and much of the perennial swing state's political trajectory depends on a single state Supreme Court seat. The winner will determine the sway of the court, which could change the state's stance on abortion rights, gerrymandering and more. 🎧 ​​​​​​According to Wisconsin Public Radio's Shawn Johnson on Up First, this race has become the most expensive state Supreme Court race in U.S. history.
