These licky, sticky bits of paper are a reason to slow down in a hyperactive world. They’re a gateway to history, art, nature, politics.   Mushrooms from the Italian microstate of San Marino in 1967? Present. An illustration of the Asiatic and Australasian Congress of the World Federation of Trade Unions at Beijing, 1949? You bet.   Under the glare of a magnifying glass, stamps offer a precious cubic centimeter of understanding. The Bonati Spine Institute in Pasco County has suffered a blow in its efforts to reopen after Florida health care regulators suspended its license last month, alleging immediate danger to patients.   “Fresh perspective”: Lisa McLean, a longtime Tampa criminal defense attorney, announced this week that she will run to succeed Public Defender Julianne Holt, who is retiring after 30 years in office.    Study approved: Hillsborough commissioners unanimously agreed to study the economics of developing a baseball/softball complex to attract out-of-town travel teams to the county. Jack Harris to return: A week after he was terminated as the longtime host of “AM Tampa Bay” for NewsRadio 970 WFLA, Jack Harris told the Times that he is not retiring from local morning radio.   Delayed plan advances: The Clearwater City Council confirmed its support for a state overhaul that would convert the four undivided lanes on 2 miles of Drew Street from Myrtle Avenue to Keene Road to two lanes with a center turn lane.   Redfish contaminated: All 15 redfish caught last year by researchers in Tampa Bay had drugs in their blood. Heart medicine and opioid pain killers were among the most common ones.   Longer scallop season: The Pasco County Commission chairperson has said a larger than expected harvest last year justified a longer season than the 10 days allotted in recent years. So, he went to straight to the agency that said no to a request for a longer season.   Shifting its strategy: Bradenton-based Bealls is looking to compete against big department stores — so they're ditching the "dated" term outlet and focusing on their Florida roots.   Tampa restaurant closes: Ichicoro Ramen in Seminole Heights abruptly shuttered last week. Donate Gain unlimited access POLITICS More election changes: Florida lawmakers want to add a disclaimer to voter IDs saying the cards are not proof of "legal verification of the eligibility to vote.” That's one of several changes to the state’s election laws that lawmakers are considering this year in a 98-page bill. New plan: After years of giving insurers largely what they want, lawmakers say they want to step up enforcement against “bad actors.” A bill would increase penalties and oversight of insurance companies. Opposition research “book”: A Democratic opposition research group published an online “book” on Gov. Ron DeSantis. The site condenses thousands of pages of past statements, laws DeSantis has signed and more into more than 500 pages of “thematic documents,” according to the group.   Newsom visits New College: California Gov.
