Hello! Another busy week is coming to a close, but this was no ordinary week for The Verge for several reasons. For one, our site has been completely redesigned. Have you seen it yet? Go check it out. Our editor-in-chief Nilay has a post that goes into exactly why the redesign looks the way that it does (there's also a Vergecast all about it). It's different, sure, but also better-looking, faster, and more futureproof than before. Additionally, this week saw the release of Apple's iPhone 14 Pro and the Apple Watch Series 8, one of which a more iterative update than the other. But enough about new-age blogging and Apple's latest: you're here for some deals. We've got those below, including a few geared toward home entertainment and an exclusive that you'll be among the first to see. Have a nice weekend! |

Want a big-screen TV to watch Monday Night Football without paying, well, typical big-screen TV prices? Right now, Amazon's 75-inch Fire TV Omni is on sale at Best Buy for $699.99 instead of $1,099.99, which marks a new all-time low for the 4K set. Amazon's Fire TV Omni series isn't known for impressive picture quality — the black levels are so-so and the color accuracy isn't great — but they do offer some nice perks, including an HDMI 2.1 eARC port. It also has built-in mics for hands-free Alexa voice commands even when the screen's off. Unlike the smaller configurations, the 75-inch model also includes support for Dolby Vision HDR. That's in addition to a low input lag, support for two-way video calling, and, of course, the ability to stream content from Amazon Prime Video, Netflix, and all the major streaming services. | The 32GB Apple TV 4K is still on sale for $119.99 at Amazon, down from its original list price of $179. While the Apple TV 4K is best suited for users that live in the Apple ecosystem, there's plenty of utility to be found in this innocuous black box. Apart from letting you stream media from platforms like Disney Plus and HBO Max, the Apple TV 4K provides an avenue to access content from Apple Arcade, Apple Fitness Plus, and Apple Music. In terms of speed, the A12 Bionic CPU gives the Apple TV 4K superior performance and responsiveness when compared to other streaming devices, including the Roku Streaming Stick 4K and Amazon Fire Stick 4K. The Apple TV 4K is also compatible with HDMI 2.1 and Wi-Fi 6, helping to provide high-quality content as quickly, and with as few disruptions, as possible. Some other features include the much-improved Siri Remote, the ability to stream audio privately to two separate pairs of AirPods, and the ability to stream video from all of your HomeKit-enabled cameras. It even offers support for a range of essential specs, including Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos, and HDR10. Read our review. |

If you want to be able to store more than just a handful of games at once on your PlayStation 5, it's about time that you consider purchasing a fast M.2 SSD to install in your console. Those can be pretty pricey, but GameStop is hosting a special deal for its Pro members ($14.99 a year) on the 1TB Samsung 980 Pro M.2 SSD. Its current sale price is $129.99, but Pro members can get one for $99.99, which is a stellar deal. Keep in mind that it originally sold for $229 when it launched in late 2020. If you purchase this model, Sony suggests that you install a heatsink on your M.2 SSD to help it stay cool, as they tend to heat up when they're reading data at a blistering speed of 7,000MB/s. There are countless heatsink options to choose from, but here's a $10 model from Amazon that fits the bill. And here's how to install an M.2 SSD in a PS5. |

The 980 Pro can go on a tear with sequential read / write speeds of up to 7,000MB/s and 5,000MB/s, respectively. It's two times faster performance than PCIe 3.0 SSDs and nearly 13 times faster than the more affordable but slower SATA SSDs. |

It's iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro release day, which makes it a good time to buy some extra accessories to make your new purchase even sweeter. Thankfully, Anker's 621 Magnetic Battery (MagGo) is on sale at Amazon for $39.99 ($10 off) when you click the on-page coupon. The charger also comes with a USB-C cable and a two-year warranty. A portable charger like Anker's 621 can come in handy when you're out or traveling and your phone is about to run out of power. The 5,000mAh charger also uses Apple's handy MagSafe technology, which means it can attach to the back of newer iPhone models (including the iPhone 12, 13, and 14). Note, however, that if you intend to use it with a case on, that case will also need to be compatible with Apple's MagSafe tech. |

Prefer a Chromebook over a tablet? Lenovo's Flex 5 is a Chromebook that looks and feels more premium than its price would suggest. For the price, it offers a good port selection with both a microSD reader and a USB-C port. It also features a sleek, backlit keyboard we found both comfortable and impressive. Other niceties include a physical webcam shutter and front-facing speakers, though be aware that the audio quality isn't particularly great. Neither, sadly, is battery life, which provided us with only five and a half hours. Nevertheless, it's a good Chromebook that's currently on sale at Amazon for a limited time. While the higher-specced model we tested and called our favorite Chromebook for midrange shoppers isn't discounted, you can buy a slower, lower-specced version with an Intel Celeron N5205U processor, 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of storage for $249.99, which is about $130 off and just $2 shy of the laptop's best price to date. Read our review. |

The Lenovo Flex 5 Chromebook is a great package at an affordable price, with a backlit keyboard that's one of the better ones we've used on a Chromebook. |
