JUDGE OVERTURNS ADNAN SYED'S MURDER CONVICTION, ORDERS RELEASE A judge ordered the release of Adnan Syed, who has served more than 20 years in prison for the 1999 killing of his girlfriend, which he says he did not commit. Syed will now be placed in home confinement. The murder case was examined in the popular podcast "Serial."
