Things will be cooling off into the weekend , but keep an eye out for possible storms Saturday into Sunday. Also keep your eye on the skies for fireworks! We have a roundup of shows and events to help you celebrate the Fourth of July weekend.

The mix of hot sun, alcohol and readily available explosives also make this one of the most dangerous holidays of the year. Here's what to keep in mind to make sure it's a safe as well as fun weekend.

Art Hounds: Art that asks 'What does it mean to be ladylike?'
The interdisciplinary arts show "La.dy.like" investigates what it means to be femme. Artists muse on the act of walking at an international exhibit tucked in and around the Rochester Art Center. "There's a Crack in Everything" offers an evening of storytelling and song at Bryant Lake Bowl Theatre in Minneapolis.
 
 
Van Gogh and Japanese clothing: Two long-awaited exhibits open at MIA
The Minneapolis Institute of Art opened two exhibits last weekend, "Dressed by Nature: Textiles of Japan" and "Van Gogh and the Olive Groves." At a sneak peek, curators and MIA leadership discussed the long-awaited and culturally significant exhibits. 
 
Ask a Bookseller: A summer thriller debut by a Twin Cities author
Jennifer Jubenville of the Bookstore at Fitger's in Duluth says there's nothing like a good thriller for a summer read, and she recommends checking out Joshua Moehling's debut, "And There He Kept Her."
