After snow tonight things should warm up slightly this weekend. You've likely seen news of Russia's invasion of the Ukraine; to start the newsletter we have some ways you can help the Ukrainian people, a look at what's happening locally, and then some of the same events, activities and arts coverage to help you take a break and care for yourself as well.

 
How to send aid to Ukrainians
USA Today has put together a list of vetted organizations that are providing aid to the Ukrainian people for your consideration. Locally, a rally in support of Ukraine will take place at 5 p.m. Thursday in front of St. Constantine Ukrainian Catholic Church in Minneapolis.
 
Art Hounds: Works of the heart
Sheri Grube uses painting to manage and speak about living with chronic pain. Rochester Repertory Theatre prepares to stage the play "Silent Sky" about one woman who helped show the world the vastness of the universe. Art Hounds also recommend Matthew French's new album.
 
4 chefs, 2 eateries from MN among 2022 James Beard award semifinalists
Sean Sherman of Owamni and Yia Vang of Union Hmong Kitchen are both up for best chef in the Midwest, and their eateries are up for the national award of best new restaurant. Check out all the nominated Minnesotans and where to find their food.
 
The mental health benefits of yoga
Does a good downward dog or warrior pose help you through a hard week? Host Angela Davis spoke with a yoga researcher and a yoga instructor about people turning to yoga during the pandemic to relieve stress and find calm.

Latino art's variety in Minnesota focus of an upcoming book
The book from Afton Press features 12 artists whose work spans the artistic spectrum. The project's leader included established and emerging artists. The result is "Latin Art in Minnesota: Conversations and What's Next," which will be published in spring 2023.
