Emmanuel Dennis will miss Watford's crunch tie against Burnley after seeing red against fellow relegation battlers Norwich.

The Nigerian striker was sent off for a second booking by referee Mike Dean in the 78th minute having being shown an initial yellow in the 36th minute of action.

Dennis is on a 3-game goal drought which began after he netted the opener in Watford's 4-1 defeat to Westham on December 28.

The former Brugge striker is the Hornets' topscorer in the league this season with eight goals and five assists in 19 games.

Watford were undone by Norwich no thanks to a Juraj Kucka own goal and a brace from American international Josh Sargent who was on target in the Premier League for the first time.

Watford have now lost for their fifth straight game at the Vicarage Road and their hopes of surviving the relegation battle is dwindling.

Norwich on the other hand are out of the relegation zone for the first time this season although they have played more games than the sides below them.

It was the second time the 24-year-old was sent off in his career, after he was shown a straight red card in Club Brugge's 1-1 draw with Gent in February 2019.

Watford face Burnley on February 5.
