Well this isn't ideal if you're a Canadiens fan or someone who has a futures bet on Caufield to win the Calder trophy this year. The Habs have officially sent Caufield down to the AHL as he hasn't gotten off to the best of starts to the 2021-22 season.

We're ten games into the season and Caufield has not produced at all for Montreal and this could be the reset that he needs. With only one assist in the first ten games this is not what anyone expected out of Caufield and it's been very disappointing.

Caufield has only played a total of 20 NHL games in the regular season to this point and we have seen flashes to what he can do.

But in those 20 games he has only managed six total points with only four goals and two assist. So should the Canadiens be worried about him yet?

My simple answer is no. It is way too early in his career to be all that worried about Caufield he is still only 20 years old. Obviously, everyone has expected more out of him and we know he can score at a high level it has just yet to translate to the NHL level. We did see signs of his goal scoring ability in the Playoffs last year as he had 4 goals in the 20 playoff games he played last year. He also added 8 assist in the Habs playoff run last year so its clear that he has the ability to do it, just so far this year it hasn't worked out for him.

In my opinion him being sent down is only going to help him. I fully expect him to go down there and light it up and get his confidence back. I say they give him maybe 5-10 games down there, hopefully he pots some goals and racks up the points and he will be back up with the big club sooner rather than later.

Side note, if there is any chance the Canadiens want to trade him(Spoiler, there isn't)on behalf of the Philadelphia Flyers I would like to say we will gladly be willing to be a trade partner for him.
