Ben Simmons has become the biggest villain in Philadelphia. Fans have started to burn his jerseys to prove how much they want Simmons out of town. Simmons' latest comments about teammate Joel Embiid may be the most infuriating Simmons has done during this saga.
I have finally lost my sympathy for Ben Simmons. Simmons gets some of the most hate in the world on social media. It is very obvious he is hurt by the relentless and endless negative comments about him on every crevice of the internet. While I still do not condone all the over-the-top harassment that Simmons receives, I no longer want him on the Philadelphia 76ers.
This type of thinking is extremely selfish. It shows that Ben Simmons is not willing to sacrifice for the good of the team. Joel Embiid has changed and evolved his game to better compliment Ben Simmons' game. What has Simmons done to change his offensive game? The past three seasons, Embiid has improved his three-point percentage. It went from 30% in 2019, to 33.1% in 2020, to 37.7% in 2021.
Ben Simmons has not attempted more than 11 three-pointers in a season ever. Joel Embiid has attempted 13 threes in a game. Embiid is on the record saying he does not want to stay on the perimeter of the court as much as he does, but he knows he has to for the good of the team.
"I don't like shooting threes," Embiid said. "I only do it because of the spacing that we have, and sometimes I have to take them. I have to be on the perimeter, just getting guys open, because of all the attention that sometimes it seems are presented to me. I don't like shooting threes. I only do it because I got to make it work." - Joel Embiid in 2018
Meanwhile, Ben Simmons has gotten worse at the free-throw line every single playoff series.
| Year | Opponent | Free Throw Percentage |
| 2018 | Miami Heat (First Round) | 71.4% |
| 2018 | Boston Celtics (Second Round) | 69.6% |
| 2019 | Brooklyn Nets (First Round) | 58.3% |
| 2019 | Toronto Raptors (Second Round) | 56.3% |
| 2021 | Washington Wizards (First Round) | 35.7% |
| 2021 | Atlanta Hawks (Second Round) | 33.3% |
To recap, Ben Simmons does not want to play with Joel Embiid does not complement Simmons' game. Meanwhile, Joel Embiid has shot three-pointers, even though he does not like to, and has improved every year for the past three years while doing so, as a 7-foot center. Yet Ben Simmons, the point guard, refuses to even attempt a three, and has gotten worse every single playoff series at the free throw line.
Simmons is selfish, and does not care about the team's success. Simmons wants an entire NBA offense designed only for him to succeed. Who says that? Who is that full of themselves? Does Ben Simmons not realize he averaged 9.9 points per game in a playoff series against the Atlanta Hawks and got eliminated? Simmons clearly does not care about winning, and only cares about his individual stats.

Ben Simmons can most likely go to an irrelevant team where he is the best player. He can average 20 ppg, 10 apg, 10 rpg. Then the team will miss the playoffs. Even if that team makes the playoffs, his stats will cut in half. If Ben Simmons wants to win, he has to be willing to sacrifice for the betterment of the team. Simmons has made it clear he is not willing to make that sacrifice.
