As lawmakers discuss additional proposals to reduce lethal law enforcement encounters and make policing more accountable, there's also a push to redo last year's agreement. That's amid concern that the deadly force standard could come under constitutional challenge — possibly even affecting the prosecution of former Brooklyn Center officer Kim Potter in the fatal shooting of Daunte Wright during an April traffic stop. Line 3 foes kick off a summer of resistance More than a thousand opponents of the Line 3 oil pipeline from all over the U.S. have congregated in northern Minnesota for what they're calling the Treaty People Gathering. Heat wave continues, fire risk up across Minnesota Following a warm start, Minnesota turns hot again Monday, elevating the fire risk and keeping the Twin Cities area under a heat advisory. Northern Minnesota may see severe weather tonight. A wildfire in the Boundary Waters near Tower has led to portage and lake closures as crews try to keep the fire from getting out of control.
