Newland, the developers behind the master-planned Summerville community, are being acquired by Brookfield Residential, a company headquartered in Calgary, Canada. The acquisition is not expected to affect any current plans, including the groundbreaking of Downtown Nexton.

S.C. initial unemployment claims rise by 232 in week

For the week ending May 8, 3,088 initial unemployment claims were filed in South Carolina. On May 6, Gov. Henry McMaster directed the state to terminate all federal unemployment benefits.
