WE'RE ALSO WATCHING  An Oklahoma lawsuit filed by education activists, parents and clergy seeks to block the funding of a Catholic school as the state's first religious charter school.  The state approved funding in June, and the lawsuit could either halt or open the door for more religious schools to receive charter status.   U.S. officials have launched an urgent and frustrated effort to free an American Christian nurse and her daughter who were kidnapped Thursday in Haiti. The island nation has been engulfed in a wave of gang violence, and police there are generally powerless to help as the State Department issued a "do not travel" advisory to Americans.   A man who fired shots outside a  Memphis Hebrew school is reportedly in critical condition after being neutralized by police. Authorities praised the school's security policy and procedures, which helped prevent harm to anyone in or around the school.
