Elon Musk always seems to have some sort of a stunt stashed away to distract the public from every bit of bad publicity he receives.
On Friday, the owner of Twitter—which we're now supposed to call "X"—had a huge, glowing X placed atop the company's headquarters. By Monday, the sign was being taken down amid complaints that its flashing lights were preventing neighbors from falling asleep.
Whether the timing was deliberate or not, this latest stunt came shortly after news broke that Musk's car company Tesla had been misleading customers about the vehicles' battery range. As I wrote last week, Musk reportedly established an office dedicated to canceling the service appointments of customers who complained. Scenes from the office, as reported by Reuters, are about what you would expect: "Some employees celebrated canceling service appointments by putting their phones on mute and striking a metal xylophone, triggering applause from coworkers who sometimes stood on desks."
Do you drive a Tesla? And, if so, are you satisfied with your car's performance and estimated battery range? Do you use AutoPilot? Has Elon Musk's behavior at Twitter changed your mind about Tesla? I'd love to hear firsthand what Tesla ownership in a time of Muskian chaos is like. Drop me a line here.
