Training camp has finally started and the Eagles are back in action. According to multiple reports, Jalen Carter and Nolan Smith have been absolutely crushing it at camp so far!
Jalen Carter is someone we all have been waiting to see. We all wanted to see if his mental was ready to go for his first NFL season after some of the unfortunate events that took place in college. It seems that he is doing fine, and he showed up to camp ready to go. Per Martin Frank (@Mfranknfl) on Twitter, Jalen Carter has been beating double teams from the first team o-line already. He pushed both blockers over which is absolutely electric. He has been beating the first team o-line while playing on the second team d-line. It will be no surprise when he starts taking first team snaps. Carter says he is going for defensive rookie of the year, which should show Eagles fans that he is all in, and there shouldn't be any problems.
Nolan Smith has been the talk of camp as well. Smith has been lightning fast off the edge. He has "incredible" change of direction. On day one, he had three straight pressures. On the first one, he planted the tight end into the ground, and would've had a sack in game. The next pressure forced a red-zone interception. The last pressure forced Marcus Mariota to fumble. This is better news than we could've expected. Smith is going to fit in perfectly with the d-line and make them even better. Smith and Reddick are going to cause so much havoc off the edges.
The news coming out of camp so far should have everyone extremely excited. The Eagles d-line has a chance to be even better than they were last year, which no one thought was possible. The fact that these two players fell to the Eagles at picks 9 and 30 is insane. If these guys continue playing like this at camp, there is no doubt they will be day one starters and help this team to make it back to the Superbowl.
