It was not a great start for Nigeria's D'Tigers as they fell to a 65-62 defeat in their opening game of the FIBA Afrocan Qualifiers in Abidjan on Friday.
The D'Tigers who arrived 24 hours before the first game had little time to prepare and could barely cope with the Guinean's defense for most part of the game.
Guinea outscored the D'Tigers 22-11 in the second quarter and held on to a 5 point lead at half time.
The Nigerian team came out stronger from the break but could not hold on for too long giving up so many turnovers and committing 22 in the entire game while missing 8 free throws.
Ibe Agu and Michael Okiki both combined for 25 points scored for the D'Tigers.
Nigeria will return to the court on Saturday when they play against Benin Republic.
