We don't have investors. We don't have owners. We don't have profits in the usual sense of the word. So every dollar we have — and every dollar that comes in — is put right to work for YOU. Our journalists and staff transform your support into news, programming, and ultimately, better-informed people – who are challenged and invigorated by a deeper understanding of events, ideas, and cultures.     Of course, this "public" thing works two ways. And you are the not-so-secret ingredient to public media's success when you show your support with a donation. Regardless of what you may have heard recently, on average, less than 1% of NPR's annual operating budget comes in the form of grants from CPB and federal agencies and departments.
