The Future of AI in Fitness

Can AI change the way we work out? ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌

I usually work out alone. Aside from the occasional walk with a friend or group yoga class, I prefer to just focus on my own fitness routine and lose myself in my own playlist. But it seems there’s a new workout buddy in my future: AI.

Artificial intelligence isn’t just changing how we research, text, email and even edit photos, it’s changing the way we exercise. Notably, AI in fitness isn’t new. It’s been incorporated in fitness trackers, smart mirrors and Peloton for years. But now, its presence in the fitness industry is expanding. Its increased capabilities could help users achieve their health and wellness goals, from providing nutrition, sleep and workout tips to detecting ideal reps, speed, weight and form when weightlifting.

Will this make personal trainers and nutritionists obsolete? Probably not, or at least not anytime soon. CNET’s Giselle Castro-Sloboda takes us through
the future of AI in the wellness and fitness industries, detailing the advantages, shortcomings and potential evolution of AI tech. And maybe, just maybe, AI and fitness could make a perfect duo.

You can find this, plus CNET's latest news, reviews and so much more, in today's newsletter.
