Howell Donaldson III is poised to admit to four murders in a surprise deal
| | [Times 2018] | | Seminole Heights serial killings may end in guilty plea today, 5 years after attacks | | Howell Donaldson III is poised to admit this morning that he shot and killed four people in 2017 in southeast Seminole Heights, a surprise development that would bring an abrupt end to one of Tampa’s most extraordinary and notorious criminal cases. Donaldson was on the verge today of pleading guilty to four counts of first-degree murder in a deal with prosecutors that would have him avoid a possible death sentence and instead receive four consecutive sentences of life in prison without the possibility of parole. Donaldson’s defense, led by Hillsborough Public Defender Julianne Holt, and lawyers for the state publicly announced the tentative plea deal in court this morning. It happened in what was scheduled to be a hearing on a recent defense request to throw out much of the key evidence in the case. This is a developing story.
