If you knew Nunziata “Nancy” Bowers, you probably called her Mama. Bowers, who died March 11 at 72 from lung cancer, owned A&N Deli and Felice Italian Deli in Clearwater. Her celebration of life will be held May 7 at Felice Deli. That’s a fitting tribute because the native of Italy loved feeding people. Here are a few other obituaries from the news, the obits section of the Times and local funeral homes: Jerry Springer (yes, that Jerry Springer), 79, loved living in Sarasota. Nathaniel “Cigar” Washington, 93, of Wimauma “served in the United States Army where he fought in the Korean War. He was honorably discharged after serving many years. He went on to work for the International Longshoremen Association Local 1402 in Tampa ... and later retired to spend some quality time fishing, playing checkers, and hanging out with friends.” Sonia Esther Fernandez, 79, of Tampa “enjoyed sewing, arranging flowers, crafting and decorating. Her mother taught her to sew and she made a lot of her own clothes as well as many dresses and outfits for her daughters. Many a Saturday morning was spent at the fabric stores with her sister-in-law, children in tow.” Josephine Brown, 78, lived in Tampa. “Thank you for teaching us the value of a handwritten note, the importance of empathy, and the meaning of love,” her obituary reads. |
