Terem Moffi, a Nigerian professional footballer who currently plays as a striker for OGC Nice, recently spoke to PS Football Africa in an interview where he addressed several topics.
One of the main questions he was asked was why he chose Nice over other top European clubs that were also interested in him. Moffi revealed that although he had received offers from the Premier League, Serie A, and La Liga, he opted for Nice because they sold the project well to him and it was what he needed.
"Obviously I had offers, good offers from the Premier League and Seria A and Laliga but my mind was made up on staying in Ligue Everyone wanted me to go to other Leagues but Nice was the best place for me, they sold the project well to me and it was what I needed."
He also talked about his slow start at the club, stating that the first few games were not as smooth as he had hoped, but he remained positive and waited for his moment.
"The first couple of games was not as smooth as I wanted, but that's football, a few players will go to a new club and hit it running. I just had to stay positive and wait for my moment and my moment came."
Moffi's patience paid off, as he has since become one of the top scorers in Ligue 1, alongside players like Kylian Mbappe and Folarin Balogun. However, he is not satisfied with his current position and expressed his desire to climb higher on the scoring chart.
"In my opinion, I feel like there's still work to be done. Obviously, I'm up there but I want to be higher."
The interview also touched on Nigeria's plan to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in 2023. Moffi revealed that he had not yet played in any major competitions with Nigeria and was looking forward to making his debut at the AFCON. He acknowledged that the team had experienced a poor run lately, particularly after failing to qualify for the World Cup, but they were working hard to make things right for themselves and for Nigeria as a whole.
"I haven't played in any major competition with Nigeria yet, going to AFCON will be my first The team and I are working hard to go to the AFCON and looking forward to it.
"We've had a poor run lately, not going to the World Cup. We're trying to make things right for ourselves and for Nigeria too"
Finally, Moffi was asked about the frustration of Nigerian fans on the performance of the Super Eagles. He acknowledged that it was difficult for both the fans and the players, but pledged to work hard and make them proud. Moffi's determination and focus on improving his game and making an impact for both his club and country are a testament to his talent and dedication to the sport.
"It's difficult for the fans and also difficult for us too, we've to work hard and make them proud."
