Super Eagles striker Taiwo Awoniyi put up a man of the match performance for Nottingham Forest against Chelsea at the City Ground on New Year's Day.
Forest announced Awoniyi as their stand out player on their Twitter handle following conclusion of the club's fans votes.
Raheem Sterling put Chelsea in front in the 16th minute, half volleying a rebound of the crossbar from a Kai Havertz shot into the net.
Nottingham Forest tried to equalize multiple times with Awoniyi shooting at the goalkeeper, same as Johnson and Gibbs White striking the underside of the post.
Serge Aurier eventually got his first goal for the club in the 63rd minute to put Nottingham Forest back on level terms and secure a draw for the home team.
Having scored in his previous starts at City Ground against West Ham United, Fulham and Liverpool, Awoniyi was expected to get on the scoresheet again.
Despite not scoring, Awoniyi beat off competition from Forest scorer Serge Aurier, Morgan Gibbs-White and Willy Boly to land the award.
Compatriot, Emmanuel Dennis was on the bench throughout the game for Forest.
