I heard it in your slumber
connected with a timid grin.
Your eyes fluttered in a night terror;
your lips licked my name off
with the residue of a kiss.
I guzzled your cup of obsession,
making up for the moments that slithered
through our interlaced hands like sand.
The time I'd been away working on myself
made me sick of the person in the mirror.
I'm back, but only in your mind
do I adore you more.
I've embraced you within my heart
before we'd ever met.
