Historic rains and floods hit the state this weekend and another deluge is expected midweek. Here's what we're following today: 🥇 First up Jeff Dean/AP Last night's game between the Buffalo Bills and the Cincinnati Bengals was suspended after Bills safety Damar Hamlin suffered cardiac arrest and collapsed on the field. Hamlin remains in critical condition, and condolences have poured in from all over the sports world. Democrats hand over control of the House to Republicans today. Despite plenty of infighting, Joe Biden has delivered on several major promises since 2021, some with bipartisan support. Those compromises could be harder with the new Congress. ➡️ The House's first vote is to elect a new House speaker, but Rep. Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., still doesn't have the majority he needs to win the gavel. 🎧 Listen to what could happen. Ukraine's military is taking credit for a blast that may have killed hundreds of Russian conscripts in Ukraine's far east in the first minutes of the new year. Russia corroborated the reports on Monday, but only claimed 63 deaths.
