Is Jalen Hurts the MVP?

When the Eagles drafted Jalen Hurts back in April 2020 nobody could have predicted the words "Most Valuable Player" and Hurts would be intertwined. Now sitting in 2022, Hurts looks like an MVP candidate, but is he the favorite?

According to FanDuel Sportsbook, Hurts is not the clear-cut favorite. He is in second place trailing Patrick Mahomes. Mahomes has put up better-passing numbers but Hurts has also added over 300 more yards than Mahomes on the ground.

Leading the Eagles to a 10-1 record in his second full season starting is better than anyone could have imagined. The team had high hopes coming into this season and the main question was, how much has Hurts developed? 12 weeks into the season and the answer seems fairly obvious, he has transformed himself into one of the top quarterbacks in the league.

The MVP race will almost certainly come down to Mahomes or Hurts' and the final stretch of the season will play a big role in who wins. It's hard to see what more Hurts could do to win the MVP. Every week he's leading this team to victory and finding new ways to win, whether it be running or throwing.

Even if he doesn't win the MVP this season he's still proven to be the franchise quarterback. The stars are aligning for Hurts to get a massive payday soon and this season is helping build his case. The strides he has made in one year are remarkable and he is still so young with even more room to grow and develop.
