Five years after it was unveiled, Tesla boss Elon Musk finally got to deliver the automaker's all-electric Semi truck to the first customer.
Musk turned the occasion into a big event, livestreaming the launch from Tesla's Nevada Gigafactory on Thursday night.
"If you're a truck driver and you want the most bad-ass rig on the road, this is it," Musk told the crowd.
The first customer, Pepsi, has ordered 100 of the hefty Class 8 trucks, which have a range of 500 miles and a top price of $180,000.
The vehicle sports a sleek design and, notably, places the steering wheel in the center of the cab with touchscreens located on either side of the driver.
Musk has said previously that he wants to see production of the Semi ramp up to 50,000 vehicles annually in 2024.
Rivals in the space include Volvo-owned Renault Trucks, Daimler, and Nikola, among others.
