More local Classical programming Six years ago, Maine Public launched an entirely new radio service called Maine Public Classical with the expectation of sharpening Maine Public’s cultural focus and providing our audience with the robust classical programming that our listeners and members had requested for years. Envisioned also as the home for opera, jazz, and specialty musical programs and performances, the new radio service initially launched over just a few signals and today is broadcast over seven frequencies across much of Maine and streamed online from Maine Public’s website. And over the next three years we hope to add even more frequencies to cover additional areas of the state. At the heart of Maine Public Classical today are the talented hosts and their locally-produced classical programs that now dominate our classical schedule. Leading the classical team is Aaron Engebreth. Our Director of Classical Music and Executive Producer of Maine Stage, Aaron can be heard each week on Saturdays from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and on Sundays from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Classical Host and Producer Gale Parmelee starts us off each weekday with his program from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Our newest classical addition, Joe Boucher, keeps the exceptional programming coming from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., and Host and Producer Sarah Tuttle wraps up each Monday through Thursday from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. You can also hear Sarah every Sunday from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. THANK YOU to the team at OceanView at Falmouth, the premiere sponsor of Maine Public Classical, for their ongoing support of the service. Our most visible vehicle donation campaign each year just concluded and resulted in over 150 cars and trucks coming in from our audience to support the programming that they love. We received vehicles from most every automaker, including a 2012 Tesla Model S and a 1973 Land Rover Series III! A significant Thank You to the team at Lee Auto Mall for helping craft the program and offering a compelling incentive to encourage vehicle donations to Maine Public. Keep in mind that we accept cars and trucks all year round and that every vehicle – no matter the age or condition – goes a long way to allowing us to deliver our programs, innovate, and keep Maine Public strong. If you are thinking about donating, make it happen by contacting us today! |

I am reluctantly saying goodbye to my beloved "xBee." This little car made me so happy, and spread joy wherever we went. I can't tell you how many times people would approach me and say, "Your car is so cute!" "I love your car!" "Your car makes me so happy." By donating her to support Maine Public and all the wonderful services they provide to the people of Maine, I am hoping in her small way, she will drive on. -Susan, Windham
