Once a year, my colleagues and I ask you to support Reason magazine’s efforts to advance libertarian ideas and policies with fully tax-deductible donations. We thrive because of your investment in free minds and free markets. So thank you! I’m excited to announce a $100,000 matching grant from a supporter who loves Reason—which means that every dollar (or satoshis; yes, we take bitcoin!) goes twice as far for the next hundred grand in donations! So go here to make a contribution to Reason Foundation (the non-profit that publishes the magazine) and figure out exactly what sort of swag you want in your mailbox. Day in and day out, Reason makes the principled case for a more libertarian world in which all of us have more power and control over our own lives. Next year I’ll celebrate my 30th anniversary with Reason, and looking back, I’m proud to say that through multiple editors (including me from 2000 through 2008), a constantly shifting American political landscape, and massive cultural evolution (in ’93, Al Gore had barely even invented the Internet!), Reason has remained vigilant in producing high-quality news and analysis that exists outside of the left/right echo chamber and advocates for free minds and free markets in every aspect of human activity. I’m particularly proud of the role that video has played in Reason’s development. ReasonTV is the brainchild of Reason Foundation trustee, comedy legend, and Price Is Right host Drew Carey, who suggested we experiment with making online documentaries at a time when most magazines were still struggling to adapt to the World Wide Web. “Your stories make people think,” Drew told us, “but with video, we can make people feel too and gain an even-deeper appreciation for the power of Free Minds and Free Markets.” Drew was right—and he even hosted the first dozen-plus videos we put out 15 years ago. He and I worked together on our award-winning series, Reason Saves Cleveland with Drew Carey—and that might just be my favorite Reason video of all time. If you like great content like this, as well as the podcasts, videos, and award-winning articles that we’re serving up daily at Reason, then please make a donation today—and help that $100,000 matching grant double its value!
