If you're reading this right now, that means both of us have made it through the madness that was last week's Prime Early Access Sale. And now, we get to take a bit of a breather until Black Friday arrives in late November, even if some retailers will inevitably jump the gun with earlier deal events. There's always something just ahead on the deals calendar, right? But for today's newsletter, I'm letting the Halloween spirit dictate the vibes. We're featuring a great deal on the digital version of Metroid Dread for the Nintendo Switch, a tough-to-resist Pixel 6 deal, and more just below. |

Right now, you can get the digital version of Metroid Dread for the Nintendo Switch for $41.99 ($18 off) at Best Buy and Amazon. It's a strange discount, since most first-party Nintendo games drop to $39.99 when they're on sale, but we'll take what we can get here. Metroid Dread will take about 10 or 15 hours to beat, depending on your skill level. In case you aren't familiar with the Metroid series, Dread is both a finale and follow-up to 2001's Metroid Fusion. The series helped to define the popular gaming genre "Metroidvania" with its maze-like level layout, smart progression system, and challenging gameplay. Dread is a refinement of all the games that came before, with a gorgeous art style, fantastic music, and some surprisingly tense moments. Read our review. |

| There's a new Apple TV 4K coming in November (you can preorder it here), one that packs support for HDR10 Plus, an A15 Bionic chip, and a Siri Remote that uses a USB-C port instead of Lightning. That's all good news, except for the fact that Apple isn't including a USB-C cable in the box, which sure would be handy for charging the remote. If you plan to get the new Apple TV 4K but haven't had a reason to keep a USB-C cable handy — or you just need a couple of spares — you can get this two-pack of six-foot cables from Anker for $15.99 when you clip the on-page coupon for 20 percent off. There are cheaper cables out there, but these are both braided for extra durability and futureproof in terms of their 100W charging capability. Now, 100W is surely overkill for charging the Siri Remote, but you can also use them to charge more demanding USB-C gadgets, like a MacBook. |

One of the best deals you could get during Amazon's recent Prime Early Access Sale was on the 128GB Pixel 6, which was going for a mere $399.99 on Amazon. Unfortunately, that deal has since sold out, and prices at other retailers have gone back up. But at Amazon, you can still purchase the Pixel 6 with double the storage for $499.99. That's a good deal, especially since the 90Hz OLED screen on the Pixel 6 is better than that of the cheaper Pixel 6A, as are its cameras. Google's new Pixel 7 starts at $599 with 128GB of storage, which might be just out of your budget. But if you're in the market for a waterproof phone that's brilliant at taking photos and works on most every carrier, check out this Pixel 6 deal. It'll get support from Google for a few more years, and most feature drops to come should make their way to this 2021 phone, too. Read our review. |

The Pixel 6 launched last year, but it remains a smart investment to make if you're considering the $449 Pixel 6A. It features a faster refresh rate on its OLED screen and better camera hardware. |

You might have heard the news that Apple recently unveiled an all-new look for the 10th-gen iPad, which is set to arrive next week to the tune of $449 (you can preorder it here). The higher price tag might have some people pausing, however, namely because its $120 more than the original price of the 2021 slate. If the upcoming model is giving you a bit of sticker shock or if you could care less for a USB-C port, it's easy for us to recommend the ninth-generation model that's sticking around. Right now, Amazon is selling the 64GB base model with Wi-Fi for just $269 ($60 off), a price that matches what we saw during the Prime Early Access Sale. While the newer version's design looks like a pricey iPad Air, the cheaper iPad might actually be the right choice for some people. After all, it has a headphone jack, whereas the new iPad does not. |

The ninth-gen iPad is Apple's last iPad to feature both a front-facing Touch ID button and a headphone jack. It also features Apple's A13 Bionic chip, 64GB of storage, and Wi-Fi support. |
