View this email online Goats and Soda editor's note Julia Gunther A few years ago, our team at Goats and Soda was thinking about a way to come up with some interesting stories for the last week of August leading into Labor Day which back in pre-pandemic, pre-monkeypox, pre-Ukraine war days used to be a slow news period on the global front. We thought, hey, why not follow up on stories we've done in the past year or years to see what's happened since. It's a tried-and-true journalistic tactic. And it was great checking in on past stories. We revisited the father who tried to undo the child marriage he'd set up, the Kenyan women of the No Sex for Fish collective and many more. We found twists and turns that took us by surprise. Sometimes the follow-up news was sad. Sometimes ... full of hope. This year we're again asking "Whatever happened to ...." for a range of stories -- including the pandemic-delayed wedding of Patrick of Malawi and Fiona of the Netherlands, pictured above. See below for the other stories we've done so far. More are coming over the weekend and early next week.
