Amazon's Latest Event Includes Both Cool and Creepy Products

The Kindle Scribe seems useful, but a TV that can sense when you're in the room? Not so much.  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌

Amazon makes it easy to shop online, but some of its own products tend to walk a fine line between being genuinely cool and a bit creepy. We got a little of both Wednesday during its latest product launch. There's a new Kindle device, the Scribe, that has a 10.2-inch E Ink display and comes with a pen that lets you write on the screen. Fun, right? But we also got a glimpse of the Fire TV Omni, which has always-on sensors that can identify when you’ve walked into the room. That feature struck CNET’s David Katzmaier as being a little too intrusive.

If you’re not an Amazon fan or you're feeling overwhelmed by grown-up problems, you’ll soon be able to relive your childhood by purchasing an
adult Happy Meal at McDonald’s. Maybe you’ll want to take it to-go so you can curl up at home and stream Hocus Pocus 2. After all, millennials have only been waiting 29 years for the sequel to the Halloween classic. CNET has all this and more, bringing you the latest tech news and trends.
