Ivory Coast forward, Sebastien Haller was back in Netherlands to pick up the Willy van der Kuijlen trophy for finishing as top scorer in the 2021/22 Eredivise season.
The forward was diagnosed with testicular cancer last month after completing his move to Broussia Dortmund earlier this summer.
It was an emotional night for the former Ajax man who had a blistering season in the Champions League and in the Dutch League." Haller said after receiving the award.
"To be honest I have the chance to feel okay," he said. "Those two three days in and out of hospital is not the best to be honest. I'm lucky I have good people around me," he added as he pointed at his wife. "My physio helps me everyday to feel okay. It's not easy every day," he continued in an emotional speech.
"It can happen to anyone. Lucky it me because not everyone can go through this difficult moment. I'm surrounded by a lot of people but like I said everything is fine."
Haller is expected to be out for several months as he receives treatment to relieve his testicular cancer.
