LACK OF INTEREST KILLS ALTERNATIVE TEACHER LICENSING PROGRAM IN CLARK COUNTY
The staff-strapped Clark County School District has suspended the teacher licensure program it runs with Nevada State College because of a lack of interest from aspiring educators. The district — which was advertising close to 1,500 teacher openings last week — told the people who had signed up to receive a teaching license through the Accelerated Licensure Teaching Academy, an alternative program for career-changers and others whose bachelor’s degrees aren’t in education, last month that it is pausing the program “indefinitely.”

It’s that “unorthodox approach,” in the words of teammate Maxx Crosby, that’s guided the 32-year-old edge rusher through an 11-year NFL career that reaches its third stop in Las Vegas this season.
PALMS AMPS UP ITS LIVE ENTERTAINMENT WITH FRANKIE MORENO AT KAOS
While another Las Vegas monsoon season storm began to swell with rain and lightning Friday night, Frankie Moreno electrified the first audience of his new residency inside the former nightclub space known as Kaos at Palms. There was literal electricity when about halfway through the show, Moreno played a piano tune that was connected to the venue’s Tesla coil, a transformer installed on the ceiling that produces low-current electrical effects choreographed to the music.
