TikTok is expanding its creator monetization opportunities through a new LIVE Subscription program that it is releasing to selected creators in the app. The feature would allow creators to generate recurring revenue by sharing exclusive content with their paying audience. As stated by TikTok, LIVE subscription "also provides engaged communities an opportunity to thank their favourite creators on a regular basis." The exclusive content that subscribers would get access to includes Badges, custom Emotes, and Subscriber-Only Chat. The Subscriber Badge would be displayed next to a subscriber's name on their profile and would be upgraded over time. The Custom Emotes would be designed by creators and could be used during LIVE sessions. Lastly, the Subscriber-Only Chat would offer a more personal connection between a creator and subscriber. TikTok also specified the criteria for accessing the feature, which includes being at least 18 years of age and having at least 1,000 followers. The company further adds that all users must follow its Community Guidelines and not solicit gifts or offer incentives for gifting. TikTok plans to expand the launch of LIVE Subscription to all users over the coming months. |
