Google Maps is celebrating its 15th anniversary by taking mobile Street View viewers on a trip down memory lane. Google announced on Tuesday that it is implementing a new feature that will allow people using the app worldwide to see historical imagery on their phones.
Anyone using the desktop version of Street View has had the ability to see historical images of various locations since 2014, but from today, anyone using the mobile app will also be able to see how much their favorite landmarks have changed over the years ... |

On paper, drones and 360 cameras go together like pineapple and pizza, that is to say, they are an excellent if rather niche combination. However, the problem has always been when filming with a camera that sees everything, that the view also includes whatever the camera is attached to. This means that filming with a 360 camera on a drone feels more like riding a speeder on Endor than flying unsupported through the sky.
The new Sphere camera unveiled by Insta360 on Tuesday solves this issue by turning the drone invisible, thus fully immersing you in the experience of flight.
The Sphere accomplishes this by placing one lens on top of the drone and one beneath. The Sphere then uses software to stitch the footage from each half together so that the drone vanishes from the video, creating a seamless sphere ... |

NASA has shared the final selfie snapped by its InSight Mars lander. The machine is gradually losing power as an increasing amount of martian dust covers its two 7-feet-wide solar arrays. It's expected to go quiet toward the end of this year.
The selfie was captured in April and released this week and shows the lander completely covered in dust. NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, which has been overseeing InSight's mission since it began in 2018, also tweeted a GIF comprising a before/after sequence that clearly shows the severity of the situation ... |
