Happy Friday. It's been a wild week of deals, one that offered up some of the biggest price cuts we've seen yet on some of our favorite pieces of tech, including Apple's latest iPad Mini and the newer Eero Pro 6E mesh Wi-Fi router. If you haven't been keeping up with the best deals happening this week, though, don't worry, that's why I'm in your inbox today. And just a quick aside, Mother's Day is this Sunday, May 8th. And while it might be a little too late to pick up some of the items featured in our Mother's Day Gift Guide, we've put together some last-minute gift ideas if you're truly desperate. That said, if you're still scrambling and may have to fall back on a digital gift, it can't hurt to get some flowers and a card to go along with. Just saying! |

The base iPad used to be the easy choice for people who didn't want to spend too much on a tablet. But with the current $100 price drop on the 2021 iPad Mini, picking the right model for you just got a little more tricky. Most of this week, we've seen a $100 discount on both the 64GB, Wi-Fi-enabled model and the 256GB step-up model. You can find several colors of each configuration here at Amazon. Retailers like Best Buy and Target are also offering this deal. While the iPad Mini hangs behind the latest iPad Air and Pro tablets — both of which feature bigger, more pixel-dense displays, and Apple's M1 processor — don't count out the pint-sized Mini. It has an 8.3-inch display, a speedy A15 Bionic processor, and uses USB-C for charging and connecting to peripherals. Read our review. |

Apple's revamped iPad Mini ditches the home button and opts for a larger, edge-to-edge display. It also comes outfitted with a faster processor, support for USB-C, and a top-mounted power button that moonlights as a Touch ID sensor. |

Animal Crossing: New Horizons had the misfortune of launching for the Nintendo Switch at the beginning of the pandemic. However, that timing wedged its relaxing mood and celebration of togetherness deeper into the cultural consciousness than ever before. The game has received very few discounts in the two years since it launched, but this week, the digital version finally dropped further in price than ever before: from $59.99 to $39.99 at Best Buy, Target, and GameStop. New Horizons can be played alone or with another pal on the same system (though you'll only be able to store one island per console), and if you have a Switch Online account, you can accept visitors on your island. Or, head over to theirs to see what unique items they may have. Read our one-year review. |

Animal Crossing: New Horizons lets you build and grow your own persistent island and eventually handle the overall welfare of the cast of characters that will call your island their home. By harvesting resources and trading with other islands, you'll slowly turn the vacant island into something truly unique. |

In my recent review of the Razer Leviathan V2, I made the argument for more chic (and better-sounding) desktop speakers. The example that I used was the Kanto YU2, which I own and really like. Those normally cost around $230, but you can get a pair in various colors for as low as $179.99 at Amazon. The YU2 are just one of many desktop speakers that you can buy to make music and games sound great. But what made them stick out to me was their simplistic design and the big volume knob on the back, as well as their multiple connectivity options. You can wire them into an audio receiver with its auxiliary input, or use the included USB cable to line them directly into your PC. |

The Kanto YU2 feature three-inch composite drivers with tweeters. They're powered, too, with a built-in USB DAC and subwoofer output. |

Getting a USB-C fast charger is something that anyone with modern technology ought to do. If you have a USB-C port on your phone, laptop, portable battery, or gaming console, it's a one-stop way to quickly recharge these gadgets. What's more? They usually aren't too expensive. Speaking of their budget-friendly nature, Woot is offering a two-pack of Samsung's 25W wall chargers for $28.99. Each of these chargers includes its own USB-C cable, so you won't need to supply your own. Apple and other brands sell 20W USB-C chargers (sans cable) for around $20, so you're getting a better value here, hands down. |

If you live in a home full of USB-C devices, you'd be wise to pick up a couple of wall adapters that can recharge phones, tablets, and more in a jiffy. |
