IT MATTERS. Many Americans believe that an end to Roe v. Wade is closer than ever, as tens of thousands marched yesterday in the annual March for Life in Washington, D.C. This year's theme was "equality begins in the womb" and CBN News was there! Our team reported live and marched alongside those taking a stand for life. If you want to see images that the networks did not show you, watch the coverage here. To make your voice heard in support of life, check out CBN's Faith In Action pro-life petitions. In other important life news, 49 years after the landmark Roe v. Wade decision, Martin Luther King's niece, Alveda King, is asking an important question: "Where is the lawyer for the baby?" Watch her interview on this week's edition of The Global Lane.
POLITICS. President Biden fielded questions for almost two hours on Wednesday in his first press conference in 2022. Many questions centered on the escalating crisis between Russia and the Ukraine and the President's answers were unsettling. Critics say he essentially gave Russian President Vladimir Putin a "green light" to invade Ukraine; here's what you need to know. CBN News Chief Political Analyst David Brody had a candid conversation this week with RNC National Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel, granddaughter of former Michigan Governor George W. Romney and niece of Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT). They discussed inflation, the mid-term elections, and the RNC Pride Coalition. Watch the interview, here. DON'T MISS IT! Join the CBN News team tomorrow, Sunday January 23 at 10 pm for a very special interview with Virginia's new Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears. That interview will be followed by special editions of Faith Nation, Jerusalem Dateline and Christian World News. Mark your calendar for a night of special programming! Watch on CBNNews.com, the CBN News Channel and News App, and on Freeform (check local cable listings).
HAPPENING HERE. Last weekend, Jewish worshippers were taken hostage at a synagogue in Colleyville, Texas, by British national Malik Faisal Akram. Rabbi Charlie Cytron-Walker and the remaining hostages escaped after many hours, but shockingly, the FBI initially said the hostage-taker's demands had nothing to do with anti-Semitism. Here's how a Jewish community expert responded to that assertion. In a sermon, John McArthur, pastor of Los Angeles Grace Community Church recently said, "There is no such thing as transgender… God made man male and female." That sermon was removed from YouTube's platform and cited as "hate speech." Here's what you need to know. A Syracuse University freshman heard rumors that a fellow student had a history of questionable behavior toward women, so at an off-campus party, she asked him directly if he was a sex offender in his native country of Canada. Instead of getting an answer, the young woman is now being punished by the University for asking a question that "caused mental harm." What happened to free speech? Here are the details. INTERNATIONAL. Afghanistan is now #1 on Open Doors' World Watch List for the persecution of Christians. North Korea has topped that list for the last twenty years but now that the Taliban in Afghanistan are systematically tracking and killing Christians, Afghanistan has reached first place. Airlines around the world have been scrambling this week to change or cancel flights entering the United States because of an ongoing dispute with U.S. mobile carriers and their deployment of 5G phone technology near airports. One specific aircraft seems particularly vulnerable to interference from 5G; here's the latest. Fourteen-year-old Mahnoor Ashraf, a Christian in Pakistan, was kidnapped on January 4, forced to convert to Islam and forcibly "married" to her 45-year-old Muslim neighbor. Please pray that Mahnoor's grieving family will be able to find and rescue her. The White House announced that free N95 masks will be available to U.S. residents beginning next week. And this week, President Biden's administration launched a website that enables Americans to order four rapid COVID tests to be shipped to their homes.
ENTERTAINMENT. Grief is an emotion that manifests in many ways. Christian musician TobyMac lost his 21-year-old son, Truett, to an accidental drug overdose in 2019 and he opened up recently to discuss the ways grief has impacted him. Here's the promise of God that TobyMac says has helped him process his "fierce" grief. A University of Pennsylvania parent has slammed the NCAA over its trans athlete policy. The new guidelines, approved on Wednesday, are vague and will be difficult to enforce. The anonymous UPenn parent says the women on his daughter's college swim team are upset because transgender athlete Lia Thomas has been allowed to compete on the University of Pennsylvania women's swim team this year (2021-22)—after swimming on the male team for the previous three years and then taking last year off. Here's the story. Worship leader Sean Feucht is thanking Harper Collins for cancelling his book deal. He was told several people in the marketing department didn't agree with his positions and refused to market the book. After being dropped by Harper Collins, Feucht signed with conservative book publisher Regnery. "God has blessed me," says longtime Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger.
