What a difference one year can make. This time last year the Eagles looked to be in total disarray. Coming off a four-win season and saying goodbye to their Super Bowl-winning head coach and what was supposed to be their franchise quarterback. Fast forward one year later, the Eagles are one of the hottest teams in football and making their case to be a playoff threat.
2021 was a crazy year for the Eagles. Watching a lot of familiar faces leave and making the transition to a much younger team. The beginning of the 2021 season showed us the inexperience of both rookie head coach Nick Sirianni and first-year starter Jalen Hurts. The play at the beginning of the year was rough but the strides both of them have made to here at the end of 2021 is nothing short of exceptional.
The Eagles turned the corner on Halloween and have not looked back since. Dominating games and putting together quality wins, besides a few hiccups in between. The Eagles found their grove, especially in the running game, and became the NFL's leading rushing attack. The Eagles have a chance to break the franchise rushing record for a season this Sunday with 160 yards.
The turnaround this franchise has made from the beginning of 2021 to the end of 2021 is incredible. At first, this season looked like a wash, now the Eagles are a team people don't want to face in the playoffs. Nick Sirianni is proving to be the best head coaching hire this off-season, DeVonta Smith is showing he can be a wide receiver one, and Jalen Hurts is proving the doubters wrong.
The year 2022 has a chance to be the Eagles' best year since the Super Bowl year. The talk coming into the season was the future of this team. The future is now with the Eagles. The Eagles are proving to be a serious threat, not just this season but next year as well. With three first-rounders this coming April the Eagles have some serious ammo for a team that is already looking to be in the playoffs. 2022 could be franchise-altering for the Eagles. Welcome to 2022 Eagles fans, have a happy and safe New Year.
