In a letter to the frequent Trump apologist, the committee members said that he appeared to have "advance knowledge" of former President Donald Trump and his team's "planning for January 6th." TRUMP CANCELS PRESS CONFERENCE ON ATTACK ANNIVERSARY Trump has canceled his Thursday press conference at Mar-a-Lago marking the anniversary of the attack at the U.S. Capitol, announcing he would instead say his piece at a rally next week in Arizona. MOTORISTS FREE AFTER BEING STUCK OVERNIGHT ON ICY INTERSTATE Hundreds of vehicles were trapped Monday night in Virginia on icy Interstate 95, with some drivers stuck for more than 20 hours in freezing temperatures, following crashes amid heavy winter snowfall. CHICAGO SCHOOLS SWITCH TO ONLINE LEARNING AMID COVID SURGE The Chicago schools teachers union voted to switch classes to online learning due to the surge in COVID-19 cases, in an escalating battle over pandemic safety protocols in the nation's third-largest school district. GROPING CHARGE DROPPED AGAINST CUOMO Albany's top prosecutor said he is dropping a criminal charge accusing former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) of fondling an aide. The prosecutor said he was "deeply troubled" by the allegation, but the evidence wouldn't meet the burden of proof at trial. Cuomo has seen other charges or investigations against him dropped, including allegations he inappropriately touched a female state trooper. [AP]
BIDEN CALLS COVID TESTING SITUATION 'FRUSTRATING' President Joe Biden acknowledged how "frustrating" it is for Americans trying to access COVID-19 tests during the latest surge in cases, but said the situation should soon be fixed. He promised more money for testing at schools, more federal test sites and a doubled order of Pfizer-BioNTech's pill for treating the virus. [HuffPost]
NPR STAR AUDIE CORNISH JOINS 'THE GREAT RESIGNATION' Audie Cornish, whom millions of listeners have tuned in to hear each week on NPR's "All Things Considered" for the past decade, said she's leaving the station to pursue new journalism projects. TRUMP TRIED A COUP IN PLAIN SIGHT — AND HAS, SO FAR, GOTTEN AWAY WITH IT Instead of being carted off in handcuffs for inciting an insurrection against the United States, or even just being banished for life by the Senate, Trump remains the leader of a major political party and is considering another run for the White House. Fiona Hill, a former National Security Council analyst in the Trump White House, called what he did a "coup."
