View this email online by Suzanne Nuyen First up Rey Del Rio/Getty Images Here's what we're following today: Republicans in seven states tried to send in illegitimate Electoral College votes for Donald Trump during the 2020 election. Their efforts didn't work, and now they could face legal ramifications as federal prosecutors investigate their actions. Affirmative action is the latest politically charged topic whose future depends on the Supreme Court. The justices will revisit the topic and hear cases challenging the use of race as one factor in admissions at Harvard University and the University of North Carolina. Researchers are hard at work trying to figure out why rapid antigen tests are less sensitive at detecting the omicron variant. The information would help manufacturers improve tests. ➡️ People who have omicron may get symptoms earlier on in an infection, before the viral load is high enough to be detected. ➡️ Omicron infections could also be showing up in different places. A nose swab wouldn't be as accurate if the virus lives in the throat.   A toddler burned his hand on the stove. His parents took him to the ER.
