CES 2022 is upon us, and while the show floor hasn't opened up in Las Vegas quite yet, we've already seen a handful of exciting product announcements. Later today, we're expecting even more, as all the big keynotes and flagship product reveals from companies like LG, Intel, Sony, and Samsung take place. Here's a taste! |

Jabra is using CES 2022 to bring our attention to the newest member of its Elite family of true wireless earbuds: The $119 Elite 4 Active, a set of waterproof, active noise canceling (ANC) earbuds that fit between the $99 Elite 3 and the $180 Elite 7 Active. They're available starting January 3, in navy, black and light mint.
Like the more expensive Elite 7 Active, Jabra says the Elite 4 Active offer a secure and comfortable fit without the need for hooks or wingtips, but don't expect the 4 Active to be quite as secure as the 7 — they don't have the 7's ShakeGrip rubber coating. With an IP57 rating, however, the Elite 4 Active have the same level of protection from water and dust as the Elite 7 Active.
Battery life looks very good: Jabra claims seven hours per charge in the earbuds, with a total of 28 hours when you include the charging case. A 10-minute quick charge can give you an extra hour of playtime in a pinch. |

Samsung has just unveiled a one-of-a-kind curved gaming monitor during CES 2022, dubbed the Samsung Odyssey Neo G8. This 32-inch screen offers 4K gaming with an unprecedented refresh rate of 240Hz, making it the first screen in the world with that high of a refresh rate at this resolution.
Gaming on a 4K monitor is often a surefire way to experience the most stunning visuals any game has to offer, but the high resolution usually comes at the price of a lower refresh rate. Samsung seems to have found a workaround for this problem with the Odyssey Neo G8, offering the best of both worlds, all in one stylish package. This display offers both the high refresh rates that gamers want and gorgeous visuals in 4K.
To be fair, many games won't be able to use the full extent of that refresh rate in 4K, even on the most powerful gaming PCs. But it's more than just resolution and refresh rate. The Odyssey Neo G8 also sports Quantum HDR 2000, which is intensely bright. That's thanks to the use of quantum mini-LEDs, offering up to 2,000 nits of brightness as well as a million-to-one contrast ratio. Samsung Odyssey Neo G8 is likely to offer a breathtaking gaming experience, with an enormous range of colors and deep contrasts working to enhance them. |

At CES 2022, Alienware has announced an experimental approach to game streaming called Concept Nyx. Alienware imagines a house full of PC gamers competing for a single Wi-Fi connection, and possibly a limited number of rooms and screens. It's not a problem facing most households today, but that doesn't make Alienware's solution any less interesting.
At its core, Concept Nyx is a server for your home that can stream games to any device. That means you have one large system in your house powering multiple game sessions at once. Alienware aims to power up to four independent games at the same time.
The model shown off at a Dell event ahead of CES 2022 was around the size of a large mini-fridge, a black obelisk with an Alienware logo plastered on it. But the hardware inside, which Dell refused to talk about, is hardly the point. The idea itself is what Alienware wants to preview — and its ambitions certainly caught my interest. |
