View this email online by Suzanne Nuyen First up Brent Stirton/Getty Images Here's what we're following today: It's been a year since the attack on the U.S. Capitol, and its mark is still felt by lawmakers, staffers, reporters and the Capitol police force. Staffers say that relationships across the aisle have suffered, and polarization and partisanship exacerbated.  President Biden is expected to blame former President Donald Trump for the events of that day. Biden plans a 9 a.m. ET speech in which he will "speak to the truth of what happened, not the lies that some have spread since," said White House press secretary Jen Psaki. Watch it live here. As researchers studied the more than 700 suspects arrested in connection with the Capitol attack, they found one thing that distinguishes that group: a belief in replacement theory. "They are very concerned about the idea that the rights of whites are being overtaken by the rights of minorities," one leading researcher explained.  The probe into the attack on the Capitol has been one of the largest, most complex and most resource-intensive investigations in American history. The operation has involved agents and prosecutors from nearly all 56 FBI field offices and 94 U.S. attorney's offices around the country. The CDC is recommending Pfizer's COVID-19 booster shot for children as young as 12.
