| December 27 & 28 Google Search Ranking Algorithm Jolt? Posted: Around December 27th and 28th we may have a Google search ranking algorithm jolt or quick tremor. I highly doubt Google pushed out something over the holidays, this last week of December. But it might just be some weird change that jolted the search results (like that even happens as I am describing). |

Here is a chart Mordy Oberstein of Semrush shared showing how December soared amongst the rest of the months in 2021. |
| Google Ads Exclude Placements Coming To Smart Shopping Campaigns? Posted: Google seems to be testing a feature to exclude unwanted placements in Smart Shopping Campaigns within Google Ads. ADworld Experience posted this on Twitter but it is not clear if it works or if this was some sort of slip up from Google. |
| Google Search Console Announcements Bar Test Posted: Google Search Console had this new bar at the top of the Search Console interface with announcements. It showed three types of announcements; informational, minor issue and major issue announcements. These showed up in blue, yellow and red respectively. |

| Google Ads Past Violations Can Limit Your Ads Posted: Shaun Elley posted a screenshot of one of his ads in Google Ads showing a status of "eligible (limited) policy (past violation)." This seems to mean that an ad you once had was disapproved because of a past violation but now that ad is not longer disapproved because Google later decided to no longer disapprove such types of ads. |

| Google Business Profile Products "Mark As Special" For Top Placement Posted: Google Business Profiles (formerly Google My Business) seems to have added or is testing adding a new check box for products. There is an option named "mark as special" that will show that product at the top of the page in Google Search. |
| Google Product Reviews Update Likely Will Expand To Other Languages Posted: Google's April 2021 and December 2021 product reviews update only targeted English language content. But John Mueller of Google said he suspects it will roll out to other languages in the future. He actually thought it did already but no, it did not. |
| Bing Search Santa Hat Video Play Button Easter Egg Posted: If you go to Microsoft Bing and conduct a search that triggers a video preview box to show up, there may be a little holiday easter egg for you. A Santa hat on the play button of the video that wiggles when you hover your mouse cursor over the video. |
