Hello another month is over and we only have one month left before 2021 is over?? Oh where the time has gone. I'm going to be halfway done with college at the end of this semester and all of it feels so so unreal and I don't know what to do.

THOROUGHLY ENJOYED

This Is How You Lose The Time War by Amal El-Mohtar and Max Gladstone

This book was fantastic and everyday since I have read it, I think back to it. The quotes haunt me and follow me around. It was beautiful and devastating and the grip it has on me is uncanny. I can not recommend this book enough or put into words how great it is. Simply saying, it's a book about sapphic time traveller on the opposite sides of a war who fall in love through the letters they write each other but that is just the basis of it. It is the writing which truly makes this book how amazing it is and well, I have tried to portray a bit of it and the aesthetic though my reel here.

The Sword of Kaigen by M L Wang

This was another fantastic book which fierce and powerful characters and a story that me hooked. While it did take some time for us to settle in, get to know the characters an the setting before the action picked up, I couldn't stop reading once it did. The characters are so complicated with many layers to them all and their lives are just so tragic you can't help but feel bad for them and want everything to be okay. They're also fierce and powerful and unwilling to give up and it's truly just a fantastic read.

The Bone Shard Daughter by Andrea Stewart

An Asian-inspired adult fantasy which starts off a bit slow introducing to a new world with unique magic systems and slowly building up to an amazing climax with reveals that had me gasping and needing a break to catch my breath. This book was fabulous and will definitely make it as one of my favourite series of all times. The characters, especially Lin and Jovis, have my heart and there's the most adorable pet companion ever, Mephi for whom I would give my heart.

PRETTY GOOD!

The Dating Playbook by Farrah Rochon

This book was cute and funny and emotional and overall, a pretty great read! I adored Taylor and seeing everything she had gone through and how hard she worked. She is dedicated and headstrong and trying her best to get her business off the ground. Jamar was also an amazing character who had his own doubts and secrets he was grappling with. I loved their connection and the romance and would highly recommend this and the first book in the series, The Boyfriend Project.

The Charm Offensive by Alison Cochrun

A cute queer contemporary about two men - one who's supposed to be the prince in a heterosexual dating show and the other who's his producer. This book is absolutely adorable with cute, awkward moments that had me swooning. I also loved the discussions about mental health that took place in this book and reaffirmed how important it is to first take care of yourself. I loved the honesty and vulnerability this book had which struck a chord for me.

The Gentleman's Guide to Getting Lucky by Mackenzie Lee

This was a short cute novella following Percy and Monty as they try to have sex for the first time. It is full of cute, slightly clumsy and absolutely hilarious moments and it was just such a joy to read and be back with two of my favourite boys.

The Bromance Book Club by Lyssa Kay Adams

This book was so cute and I really enjoyed reading it! I loved all the emotional growth and development in the book and all the romance book extracts in the middle of it. There was a good balance between romance and flirting and sweeping the girl off her feet with strong emotional developments, deep conversations and working through the problems in your relationships and making sure it is worth it to try again which I really enjoyed in this book.

Jade Fire Gold by June CL Tan

I did not have high expectations for this book after the many reviews from my friends, and well, it lived up to my not-high expectations. It was mostly a fun story and easy to get through but I did not get all that emotionally invested in the characters or story itself and felt that the ending was not as good as I had hoped it would be. However, it was a fun read that I got lost in along the way and so if you're just looking to get your mind off of things, this book would be good for you!

DETEST THE TIME I SPENT READING IT

The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood

I hated this book with a passion for so so many reasons, starting with the non consensual kiss in the beginning of the book, being uncomfortable with all the Title 9 jokes being made and overall, hating Adam's attitude towards his students which reminds me of the white, elitist mentality that restricts and controls academia and is the reason many POC students who do not have the same privileges refrain from going into it. You can see my review if you want proper explanations for the reasons I mentioned.

WHAT I WATCHED

HOMETOWN CHA CHA CHA

I finished watching this amazing, sweet and emotional K-drama I thoroughly enjoyed watching every second of. It features a dentist who moves to a small seaside town and opens up a clinic after quitting her last job in a big clinic in the city.
I especially loved Du-Sik and seeing everything he struggled with and how he tried to overcome it. He has had a hard life and we get to see glimpses of what he's going through and hints to something dreadful having happened to him all throughout the show and I loved how it built up a mystery. I did wish we got more time to settle and sit with everything before the show ended.
All the people in Gongjin were also so amazing and I loved seeing how their various stories played out. They were all complex, layered characters and I couldn't help but fall in love with all of them! The story adequately explores their espective lives and stories and I adored it/

ARCANE

I just started watching this and I'm upto episode 3 now. I am thoroughly enjoying this too, which I am glad for after all the hype surrounding it. The artwork is incredible and so beautiful and I just keep pausing to admire certain scenes. I also really like the characters and the development of the story so far. Episode 3 was definitely a lot in terms of culmination of the things that have been set up so far in the story and I am quite invested t see how it all pays out.

WHAT I DID IN NOVEMBER

November seemed to have just passed by in a blur with so much and nothing all having happened. It started off with Diwali which is the biggest festival for me and there was so so much to do! We made rangoli, dressed up, had sweets, met up with family for Bhai Dooj, played cards and all in all had a great time which was also very exhausting. I also got a new traditional dress made for Diwali which I absolutely loved ❤

I wanted a month long break to just sleep and recoup after that but unfortunately, I had to study since I had exams and so many assignment submissions to do. It was so much work and I was even more exhausted after that, but at least they're over so thats's good? HAHA you thought so because now it's finals season and I have even more to do.

I also worked on a lot of collaboration posts with other bloggers and the two you've all seen till now are just the start! I have at least two more coming in December and even more coming in after that! I hope you've enjoyed the two I have done so far and like the others as well!

PLANS FOR DECEMBER

December is going to be long and hard and tiring month and I don't know how I will survive it but I guess I will just have to. I have exams up till the 15th and this semester has been so so hard and I've barely been scraping by so I just hope I can do okay in them.

After that I have winter break which I can not wait for. I have quite a bit planned for the rest of month such as reading, meeting my friends, visiting my grandparents and aunts and also going on a mini vacation for New Years. All in all it's going to be quite exciting and I can not wait to just finish off college and be able to relax afterwards!

I also want to finish watching arcane and watch more etc after that. I am planning on starting either Jujutsu Kaigen or Attack on Titan so let me know which one I should start first or if you have any other tv show suggestions for me to watch!

  • We Hunt The Flame by Hafsah Faizal
  • Pachinko by Min Jin Lee
  • These Violent Delights by Micah Nemever
  • You Deserve Each Other by Sarah Hogle
  • Where Dreams Descend by Janella Angeles
  • The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson
  • Loveless by Alice Oseman
