| What To Expect From The Dissenter In October Hello, Such a busy week. Since Sunday, I've spent my time doing interviews and producing further analysis of the Yahoo! News report that detailed the CIA's plans to kidnap or kill WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange. I'll appear in a "Listening Post" segment from Al Jazeera English this weekend. Beyond that, I appreciate all the new subscribers, who signed up to receive the free newsletter. We marked the 20th anniversary of the "Global War on Terrorism" with two series on the rise of the security state and 9/11 cinema. While most have moved on from reflecting on how our culture, society, and government transformed, there are still entries in the series that I have left to publish in October. (Several will be available exclusively to paid subscribers.) *Become a paid monthly subscriber of The Dissenter and get 10% off. Also, The Dissenter provided an update on drone whistleblower Daniel Hale's incarceration. He is still languishing in a jail, where he has been since he was sentenced two months ago. The Bureau of Prisons is taking their time getting him a bed at Federal Medical Center Butner in North Carolina. We'll have another feature on drone whistleblowers in October, and we'll resume our posts that highlight some of the whistleblower stories in the United States and around the world that tend to shamefully fly under the radar. At the end of the month, the Crown Prosecution Service, which is working on behalf of the U.S. government, will have their appeal hearing in the Assange extradition case. I'll be up early to cover both days of proceedings on October 27-28. *Save 40% by becoming a paid annual subscriber of The Dissenter. Support for this newsletter creates a dedicated space for independent journalism on whistleblowers and related issues, like press freedom. It allows us to amplify voices that are often drowned out by former high-ranking officials implicated in what whistleblowers exposed or by elite figures on the boards of think tanks funded by military contractors.
Best, Kevin Gosztola The Dissenter, Editor |
