The Philadelphia Eagles are favorited in Week 8.
The Philadelphia Eagles are heading out to Michigan to face the Detriot Lions. This will be the 36th time these two franchises have faced each other with the series lead belonging to the Eagles. However, the last three times these two teams have played, the Lions have walked out victorious.
It can be pretty much universally agreed upon that this season not only has gone the way we all pictured. In fact, it would be safe to say that it has gone worse. After an extremely strong start to the season, this team seems to be on a continuous downward trend that has possibly no end in sight. Even though the Eagles are (surprisingly) favored in this Week 8 matchup, many fans do not have a good feeling about this game, and rightfully so.
After all the noise from this team's coaching staff about putting their players in the best position to win, it would seem that head coach, Nick Sirianni, and his staff has done the exact opposite. This defense is close to being the worst in the NFL and this offense has become completely predictable. After a mini bye week leading up to their game against the Las Vegas Raiders, the hope was this team would've had the time to change certain aspects of the way they were playing.
As Philly fans have all seen that was not the case. This team was unprepared as most of us have seen in a long time and it resulted in the Eagles absolutely getting steamrolled. This team, including quarterback Jalen Hurts, has to show up big against this Lions' team. Do not let their record of 0-7 fool you. The lions week in and week out have played tough and have given some of the best teams in the league a run for their money.
There is absolutely no way this team can present itself the way it has so far this season. If the Eagles are to lose this matchup, it would be rock bottom and it may result in a fire sale. This fan base is already holding on by a thread and it would be wise to assume that if the Birds do not leave Detriot victorious, this entire staff would be put on notice. Let's hope the Eagles can find a way to easily beat this winless team.
