Cristiano Ronaldo broke another record tonight by surpassing the great Ali Daei in Men's international football all time goalscorers.
Two late goals from arguably the greatest of all time , gave Portugal all the 3 points in their world cup qualifier against Ireland .
Ronaldo was tied with Ali Daei, at his previously unassailable total of 109.
Ireland took the lead earlier in the game courtesy of a 45th minutes goal from Egan.
Portugal dominated the game but failed to level up until the 89th minute when Ronaldo who had previously missed a penalty earlier in the game scored a header to level the score . He then scored the winner deep into stoppage time courtesy of another header.
Ronaldo has now scored a total of 111 goals for his country, 19 have come in friendlies. He has scored 33 in World Cup qualifying and 31 in European Championship qualifying to account for 63 others. He has 14 at the Euros, seven at the World Cup, five in the UEFA Nations League and two at the now-defunct FIFA Confederations Cup. Just 14 have come from the penalty spot, the first of which (goal No. 12 overall) came in the 2006 World Cup against Iran—a match for which Daei was suited up as the opponent.
