Facebook’s New Newsletter Platform ‘Bulletin’ is in Beta Testing

Posted: 01 Jul 2021 04:23 PM PDT

Facebook is launching its own newsletter platform, called Bulletin. CEO of the company, Mark Zuckerberg, made the announcement in an Audio Room on Facebook.

Bulletin will be a platform for writers and podcasters, where they can publish content and form a community of subscribers.

The company revealed what the platform will be offering and that it is currently experimenting with tools and features to add to it, in collaboration with a small number of selected writers.

Facebook explained that through Bulletin, the company wants to support creators and unify its "existing tools with something that could more directly support great writing and audio content — from podcasts to Live Audio Rooms — all in one place."

The company also clarified that it will be giving "complete editorial independence" to anyone wanting to partner with it. Creators will have the rights to their content and subscribers list. The policy of the platform will, nevertheless, follow Facebook's existing infrastructure. For instance, readers will be required to use Facebook Pay for any transactions.

Bulletin will be a separate site, but its content will appear in Facebook's News Feed, and will be part of the News sections for distribution.

Bulletin is also welcoming podcasters to join its platform. The site will offer tools for distribution of podcasts, as well as special audio features. Of course, existing tools like Live and Audio Rooms, and moderation tools will remain accessible to creators to connect with their audience and manage engagement.

Bulletin's branding will be focused on the writers mainly, as it aims to offer individual profiles that appear more like personalized websites for blogging. Creators will have the freedom to create their own space by choosing their title page, logo, color palette, multimedia embeds and stylization.

Moreover, Facebook will not keep its commission at launch and will allow creators to choose their own prices. Creators will be allowed to keep all the revenue from their subscribers and will own the rights to their subscribers list and content.

Happiest countries in the world

What is happiness? When can one say that they are happy? Some people believe that having enough money to fulfill all your needs is happiness whereas, for some happiness is when you are in a lovable relationship with someone.

However, in reality, happiness is way more than being financially stable and feel loved. It also depends on social freedom, government and business perceptions, self-love and care, etc. Who in the world is currently happy? The infographic below shows happiness scores from 149 different countries around the world that are marked the most and the least happy.

According to the chart, in North America, the happiest country is Canada. Despite its decline in the global ranking, the country remains the region's happiest place. In 2019, it secured 9th position in the global ranking which dropped to 11th in 2020 and dropped even further to 14th in 2021. Haiti is unfortunately the least happy state in the region.
In the South American region, Uruguay is ranked as the happiest country with the global ranking of 31st. Venezuela on the other hand is the unhappiest country in South America and rests at 107th position in global rankings.

The current mood of the European region is happy with Finland being the happiest state not only in the region but around the world as well. The country holds 1st position in the global rankings as well. Ukraine on the other hand is the unhappiest country and secures 110th global position.

Israel is the happiest country in the Middle East and Central Asia region with a global rank of 12. Whereas, Afghanistan is the least happy. The overall current mood of the region seems pretty complicated since most of the countries here have lower happiness scores.

Last but not least, East Asia and Oceania have a neutral current mood with Taiwan being the happiest country having a 6.6 score and 24th global position. India is the country with the least happy scores. In Oceania, New Zealand has the highest happiness score and hence is the happiest country with a global ranking of 9th position.
