Trident Medical Center to become a teaching hospital

The hospital is launching two residency programs that will focus on emergency medicine and internal medicine. More than 2,200 physicians have already applied for the combined 20 spots. The hospital system plans to expand into other areas of medicine in the future.

Diagnostic service company to locate on Daniel Island

A company that serves medical diagnostic providers with billing, insurance fulfillment and other services is opening operations on Daniel Island in Berkeley County. XIFIN said the company plans to open next month.

Annual tax-free weekend scheduled for Aug. 6-8

The S.C. Department of Revenue has selected Aug. 6-8 as the 2021 Tax Free Weekend. During the sales tax holiday, certain purchases are exempt from the state's 6% sales tax and any applicable local taxes. Tax-free items include clothing, accessories and shoes, as well as school supplies, such as backpacks and computers.

Nestlé to invest $100M, create 160 new jobs in Gaffney

Food and beverage company Nestle; USA has unveiled plans to expand operations in Cherokee County. The $100 million investment will create 160 new jobs. The Nestlé USA factory, opened in 1980 at 2132 Old Georgia Highway in Gaffney.
